Email from Bruce

This is an email I got from Bruce today. Thought I'd share it with you, because...it's about the heart of JOHN, which is, the salvation of souls.

Enjoy!

JOHN is different, brother - different in it's goal and that makes it different in every way; down to the writing, casting, shooting style... as long as we keep that goal of souls before us and as long as we stay on our faces before Him we can't go wrong. Seeking, obedience no matter what it looks like to human or "film expert" eyes. Yes, that's the key. Even now as I work with this new script consultant there is the constant pull in her notes to "make it a movie," if you know what I mean. Her notes are good and they're right - if we're making a movie. But we're not making a movie - we're bringing the gospel to film. The thing that has to happen is not drama or a good story... but understanding Jesus, Salvation, the kingdom of God. I tell you, as I meet with Christian media and industry folks, I am learning that this is a very difficult thing for them to wrap their minds around. But the "everyday believers" get it - and that's the "test" we're looking to pass. GLORY TO THE NAME OF JESUS!

Spent loads of time in prayer for the funding this morning. Brother, we just plain need miracles - big miracles. What we need is for awareness to spread through the Body and for folks to be obedient when God whispers to them to give. A dollar here and five dollars there.... spread over the vast expanse of the Body, it's nothing. And that's the miracle God laid before me for the foundation of JOHN. It's a "Body" thing. Not a movie thing or "names of Christianity" thing. It's all of us coming together across nations and denominations, laying our tiny offerings before the Lord, and watching His "tabernacle" (Exodus 53, 36) be built... by His children, through their simple, humble, precious giving. Hey, God's eye is on those "give-ers." They put a smile on His face big time. Glory to Jesus!

So... I'll check in with you later. Let's hit IHOP later this week. (Yes, IHOP is the other key! hee hee!). Let me know when it's a good day.

I'm going to make a joke here: Would IHOP like to donate? :) Seriously -- If I may,..I'm going to make a public rather bold statement, and it's not going to be short. As I reflect back on this traditional holiday called Independence Day here in the United States and I think what a great country I live in and all the blessings I have - I will also tell you I've spent some time the last few days browsing the rest of the world online and yes even in our own backyard...and there is so much horrific brokeness...

I don't need to go into all that; you all know what it is...you see it every day on the news (which so many of us ignore or, 'tune out'); you hear about it from your neighbor, or the person at work...our world is filled with brokeness. And yes, broken souls right alongside the lost souls.

So many of us are busy 'wrapping our minds' around the superficial -- around sitcoms, or gossip, or our 'toys' and our 'hobbies'...around our own in-home troubles ... around our general 'busy-ness' of our day to day lives... that we just "forget" God and yes we "forget" the rest of the world's brokeness and the souls... It's so very easy for the enemy to wear us down, and to get that hold of us, isn't it? Jesus never promised us an easy life; he promised us a righteous life, if we followed Him in obedience. And one of the things he told us to do was support our church through tithes but also, to give gifts. How often we break His heart; how often we fail in doing just that. Dare I say it: too many of us trust God, until it comes time to part with our 'fun money.'

Now once in awhile people stop and notice all the brokeness. And they say, "What can we do?" What can "they do". And life 'goes on'-- without God.

You see we have not only the future of eternity but we have THIS world for the time being and 'that' is what it seems so many 'wrap their minds' around - this world...and, we do live in this world, we have daily lives, not just eternity so it's easy for us to wrap our minds around this world -- but God wants us to have life abundantly in this world as well as in eternity. So how do we get there? How do we have life abundantly in this world that we love to wrap our minds around so much?

I'll tell you how: Spread the word of God. Live the word of God, and spread the word of God. Spread the Gospel. JOHN included!

Well here's a thought everyone: Take the time to notice God; take the time to give of your money...put off one weekend movie and send something in to Him instead. Or put off that lunch, or that carwash, or... and for those of us who already do that - challenge others to do the same! We are much too afraid to talk about this; we are much to afraid to STAND UP FOR GOD; to REACH OUT. STAND UP for his Word. Too afraid of political correctness, or strange looks of annoyance from others who have their minds 'wrapped around the world' alone...

JOHN is the living bible; the living word of God on film. Lets let our brothers and sisters know this...lets invite them, plead with them, challenge them, whatever it takes.

It is a slow process, one of spreading the word of JOHN and I tell you I'm surprised that so little of the body has yet to come and wrap their minds onto this idea of spreading Gods word in film - at least, so far! I know many have; but many have not. There is still much work to do in that department guys! And again, folks are are caught up in lack of unity; in their day to day lives; in church division, bible division; dare I say...their lunches out or their carwashes, or their movies...and again, it is such an enemy approach to keep folks caught up in just those very divisive and distractive things. "Everything in moderation and balance" is the phrase that comes to mind - but how often do we forget to include God into that equasion? Into our day to day lives? How it must break His heart! Hey I'm the first to admit, I've been there! I've done that! I've been distracted with 'life' and just forgotten to talk to God! Or more yet, to LISTEN to Him. One of the lines from "Matthew" is that 'when you seek me with all of your heart, I will be found.' All of your heart, He says...and yet, we go with our distractions and our divisions...and you know guys, Jesus was up against that 2000 years ago, and He's up against that now. And so, we who wish to contribute to JOHN are also up against that as we hope to help in doing some of His work.

And yet the enemy attacks those of us who DO "get it" and grab onto it - doesn't he? Because he knows how much this is important; he knows there is victory not only in eternity but in THIS world NOW that we live in with one another. He knows there is eternal victory and worldly victory in unity, in fellowship, in love; in the gospel. And he doesn't want that. The enemy wants us to loose momentum and hope -- he wants to wear Bruce down; he wants to wear Ronald down; he wants to wear us all down - any of us that are putting in our hearts into not only JOHN but in any work of the Lord.

Yet we know there is victory. We know it because the back of the bible tells us so does it not?! It does!!(Can I get an Amen?!) In fact, the entire bible tells us so and JOHN tells us so. JOHN also tells us of the heart of Jesus...and heart that this world so desperately needs...NEEDS in a huge way. It is undeniable we need Him. I need Him; you need Him; everyone needs Him.

So lets all desperately cry out for His word to be spread; lets cry out for Him to heal our world and secure the eternity of all He so desires to keep...and that's what JOHN is. JOHN is for everyone; JOHN is for lost souls, and for souls found but wandering; for souls growing and for souls mature - because everyone, everyone needs to see and hear and feel the heart of Jesus.

DON'T GIVE UP...everyone. I know you are tired and worn down; I'm tired and worn down. But don't give up. Keep praying, keep reaching, keep talking, and keep your mind wrapped into it all. And for those of you who have yet to join in, if you are reading this now... oh please - please..... join us. Help to spread the word of God. JOHN.

Hi Kris in wa - you have said it all. Give, give and more giving required. Give of ourselves, give of our time, give of our substance - what an example of giving was Jesus - in every area - He held nothing back. I endorse everything that you have encouraged His children to do. Bless you Kris. I am going onto the website and will also be giving my small amount to this project and will pray that the Lord will multiply it. I encourage each and everyone who reads this to do the same. We cannot do nothing. love and blessings from Esme in South Africa

I feel like praying, so here goes...
We just thank you, Lord, for giving us so much..talents, finances, homes, families, Jesus, heaven.. we ask for many others to come alongside who genuinely have a desire to spread your Word, to touch others with Your revealed Presence, just to be used with no ambition for self..
We humbly request that there will be total unity in all that's done.. that this project will drip and ooze with the eternal Glory & Majesty of your Son.. thanking You dear Lord, for the joy of using what we've been given to bless and to impact others.. we ask that the enemy's plans be thwarted in every aspect..and that intercessors will rise up as watchmen... For Your Glory!!!

Right away, I'm thinking: "Why can't Warren Buffett send a couple billion Bruce's way?" But no! We don't need that! Our God owns the cattle on the 1,000 hills! (Psalms 50:10) "The earth is the Lord's and everything in it!" (Psalms 24:1)

I'll be praying for the whole project. God bless!!

Dear Ronald ,
Imagine how amazed i was !
Last week,i had just finished listening to Bruce on the radio, his first of 5 broadcasts, and although i have begun production of a promo sheet/flyer thingo,to be put in church notices, and everywhere else.....announcing JOHN...and i did get a great deal from the interview...i suddenly felt like i would burst!
It was a sensation of being pushed right to the edge...the absolute edge..i could go no further, and so i had no choice but to DIVE OFF,and land in the loving arms of Our Lord...
Man!!emotionally explosive...i sat quietly, then just had to sing to the Lord....and what He gave me was such an Annointed song...
which has since blessed others in their places of need!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is THE HOLY SPIRIT..the HOLY THREAD that ties us all together, uniting us and prompting us to be fully operational ,willing parts of the Body, allowing Holy Oil to keep us smooth in the endeavours we embark upon.........
Praise God for enthusiastic hearts that yearn for this amazing project to reach fruition...
SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!imagine my delight...to read the word ,and of course article..titled PRECIPICE............
That's exactly where i had been...........Amen..
Love the site, and love the prayers so much.Praise God for His Astounding Beauty and Faithfulness.... Yours Sincerely Lynda B.

What an amazing project...
As I sent out the beautiful postcards on The Gospel According to John to area churches this morning, I couldn't help but see the "Big-ness of God." I still have more to send out but I have to say that I am looking forward to seeing what God is going to do. Praise Jesus! I have been talking this film up so much, along with the ministry that I sometimes wonder when someone is going to say, "Alright already," but so far that hasn't happened. Thank God! Lord Bless this film!!

On a slightly more light hearted note, I have to admit that I have never been to an IHOP, though have only heard amazing things about them. I also have to say kris, that I love your idea. IHOP could donate, if anything perhaps some pancakes for breakfest for the cast and crew. Though I jest, I think that is the important thing, the important thing being that we continue to spread both the WORD and the word about the film, because to be honest we never know who is actually listening. God is everywhere and because God is everywhere, so are His people and people just waiting for someone to come along and tell them about Him. What a great witnessing tool!
God Bless You All,
Marlena
